I've got my ute booked in for a service in Townsville on Tuesday, so I need to dawdle for a few days. It's Qld school holidays at the moment and also a long weekend approaching so I'm looking for a good place (preferably cheap) to park for a few days.
Tully Gorge National Park looks good. Qld Gov has quite a good online booking service for their camp sites which indicates that there will be plenty of room, so I head in. It's about 45km in from the highway through the banana plantations.

Heading for Tully Gorge NP |
The good news when I get there is that I can grab the best campsite in the campground.
On the downside, there's a construction crew building a new amenities block. They're making a bit of noise -- not too bad. The other downside -- biting horse flies that are amazingly single minded and aggressive in their mission to extract blood from anything.

The construction crew and the flies shut down about 6pm and start up again about 8am.
Tonight is quiet and peaceful and rather lovely though.
