Still heading north west up the Landsborough Hwy.
Had a pit stop at McKinlay, another little settlement which has seen better days, typical of this part of Australia. Almost a ghost town.

Stopped very briefly in Cloncurry. Looking for a place to camp tonight I found a reference to an old abandoned mining town called Mary Kathleen just off the Barkly Hwy halfway to Mount Isa so that's where I am. What a place! There's not much left except for the concrete slabs for the carports. It might just be the biggest free camp in Australia. I reckon you could fit 1000 caravans in here. Tonight there's only about 5.
