Crossed the border into Queensland. It's only then that the drought becomes fully apparent.

That's pretty much the state of the land all the way to Cunnamulla. There's still stock in paddocks such as those.
Discovered upon arrival in Cunnamulla that the Variety Bash is in town and has booked anything and everything remotely resembling a caravan site.

The nice man at the tourist information centre directed me to free camp at the weir, 4 kms out of town. No one else there and "No Camping" signs everywhere. Anyway I tucked myself away in some scrub and had an uneventful night.
