Day 16, Katherine Gorge

The sky was big and empty
My chest filled to explode
I yelled my insides out at the sun
At the wide open road

(The Triffids)

Another hot day - 39°.
According to the locals the build up to the wet season has started early. A number of places are recording near-record temperatures for this time of year. I think that this is now about the 7th day in a row over 37° for me.
I stopped at Mataranka for a look and a swim in the thermal pool.  It was good but I think that I would've preferred a colder swim.

Tonight I'm staying in the campground at Katherine Gorge.  There's about a million flying foxes roosting here.
They're mainly down by the river which is good because they are making a smelly mess.

Once again the night is dead calm and slow to cool down after the heat of the day.

Darwin tomorrow, I reckon.
