Day 15, Daly Waters

Boy what a stinker. It was 40° as I drove along today, but I'm not complaining.
I finally made it out of the smoke after about 4 days. There was a big fire off to the north west of Tennant Creek (nowhere near where I was heading).  Once I made it past, the sky cleared.  This, of course, increased the intensity of the sun.
Where the smoke was coming from
The vegetation is starting to change as I approach the tropics.  The trees are getting bigger and shadier. I saw my first Boab today.
Tonight I'm staying in the campground behind the Hi-Way Inn, Daly Waters.

It's nice and shady and there's surprisingly good birdwatching out the back -- Red-tailed Black Cockatoos, Black Kites, Whistling Kites, Galahs, Rainbow Lorikeets, Red-winged Parrots, Flycatchers, Lapwings, Apostle birds, ...

It's still 35° at 7:15pm, dead calm and I'm sitting outside, sweating buckets.
Also starting to experience that Northern phenomenon of no twilight. One minute it's daylight the next it's night!

Only 583kms to Darwin!
