Day 11, Yulara
Interrupted sleep last night - people yelling and screaming woke me up in the middle of the night.
Got on the road early to try and beat some of the heat.
Another 38° day again with a nasty wind whipping up the dust. The flies are incredible, too.
Turned off the Stuart Hwy onto the Lasseter Hwy to Uluru.
Got to the campground at Yulara in the mid-afternoon. Just a big dust-bowl with no shade. Found a good spot with some shelter from the wind. Set up the van and then sweated it out for a couple of hours until the wind and temperature dropped.
Fortunately, even though the days are demanding, the evenings are superb. The wind drops, the flies go away, the temperature drops to a very pleasant level.
Went and took the mandatory sunset photo of Uluru, along with about 200 other people.
I must say it is very impressive though.
