Day 50, Canberra

Spent most of the day wandering around the National Gallery of Australia and the National Portrait Gallery, which is just next door.
They were both great.  Unfortunately I didn't get to see 'Blue Poles'.  It's away on loan somewhere overseas.
The highlight for me in the National Gallery was the collection of South-East Asian art.  This 19th century Buddha from Thailand sent a shiver down my spine when I stood in front of it and looked up into its eyes.  I'm sure it understood what I was thinking!

OK, perhaps too much time alone in the caravan talking to myself?

How about this von Guérard?  I was looking at that view just a few days ago.  This painting does it justice.

The National Portrait Gallery had so many great portraits but I liked this one of Sir John Kerr.
