Day 44, Cassilis to Blackheath
From Cassilis I went down through Ulan to Mudgee. Lots of lovely looking vineyards around Mudgee. I didn't sample the produce though.
Replenished a few supplies in Mudgee and then headed on to Capertee for lunch. It is quite striking country, but I'm not sure about Capertee's claim to fame -- 'The widest canyon in the world'. You could just as easily say 'The broadest mountain in the world'... a fairly dubious honour. Maybe it's just the country humour.
On through Lithgow and up to Blackheath the roads are terrible. Roadworks galore and crawling along at 40 km/hr.
I've booked in to Blackheath Glen Tourist Park for two nights. Upon reviewing the list of things to do I think I might extend that for another 2 nights.
Blackheath is a groovy little place and the park is good but expensive - $51 / night.
Had time to check out the views from a couple of lookouts. I can safely say that the photos don't do it justice.
