Day 43, Mungo Brush to Cassilis
Said a fond farewell to the Myall Lakes.
Had a quick look around Hawks Nest and Tea Gardens on the way through, where the latte set were out in full force.

Decided to head up through the Hunter Valley and round the back of the Wollemi National Park aiming for the Blue Mountains, so I took the turnoff to Maitland, leaving the Pacific Hwy behind for the last time this trip (maybe forever), hurrah.
Drove through the centre of Maitland. Would've loved to have stopped and wandered around because it had a lot of character, but the old story -- I drove around for about 20 minutes looking for a park within striking distance. No luck, so I drove on.
Continued on up the Golden Hwy through Denman, Merriwa and eventually Cassilis.
Denman |
Beautiful hilly, lush, green country with lots of thoroughbred horse studs. Mountains in the background.
The Cassilis Bowls Club runs a small caravan park next door. I'm crammed in between two behemoths. Oh well, it's only $10 for a powered site and a hot shower.
