Day 24, Townsville
Overcast morning. Rained a bit but not cold (about 30).
Went for a walk on the Strand. Dipped my toes into the Coral Sea.
Had a siesta in the middle of the day and then went for another walk on the Strand. Steady trade wind piling in from the east, just slightly cool. Came across the Townsville Brass performing a concert 'Brass on the Grass' in an amphitheatre next to the beach. They were rather good and the ambience was too.
Back at the van, I spotted a pair of Bush Stone-Curlews with two chicks nearby. There must be a few around. You can hear them wailing at night. Strange bird.
Not a very good pic but I didn't want to alarm them.
